Our story

Why we built Openwell.

The future of medicine is not an AI doctor. It is your doctor, running their own practice, with better tools. Openwell exists to make that practice possible.

AI-native, physician-owned, cash-pay

The cause

Someone has to answer for the hard questions.

Hundreds of millions of people bring their health questions to a chatbot every week. Not because a chatbot is a doctor, but because the human door is too hard to open. Short visits. Long waits. Reactive medicine. A chatbot at 2 AM is a symptom of a trust and access problem.

Our founder, Roberto Veronese, spent more than a decade building AI for personalized medicine: screening, diagnostics, and therapy selection, tools made to support the relationship between a patient and their physician, not to replace it. One of the earliest channels to adopt them was the independent, cash-pay practice. That is where the difference became clear between a physician using AI and a person using one alone.

The conclusion: the future of medicine is not AI doctors. Not because the models are weak. They keep getting better. It is because when the answer is hard, someone has to answer for it. A license. A name. A person who knows you. AI produces answers. It does not answer for them.

What patients want is not an app. It is a physician they can reach, running their own practice. Not the building, not the brand, not the software. The physician is the practice people want. And the best use of AI is enabling those practices: collapsing the overhead that made independent, personal medicine rare, so one physician can run a practice that answers only to their patients.

That is what we are building at Openwell. An AI-native clinic-as-a-service that lets a physician focus on patients while the operations run themselves. We handle the launch and the operating system. The medicine, the judgment, and the relationship stay where they belong.

Who is behind it

The people building Openwell.

Openwell is built by a team of clinicians, engineers, and operators who have spent their careers close to independent medicine and the software that runs it.
